Muriel is a Reunionese artist based in Australia.
Born and raised on Reunion Island, she embodies in her arts practice and research the complexities and subtleties of the Reunionese dance and music art form: Maloya.
Muriel’s interest in the Reunionese culture has led her to undertake studies in cross-cultural fields on Reunion Island.
Her research at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts at Edith Cowan University is associated with her artistic practice and specialist knowledge of Maloya.
She has devised performances for commissions, choreographed and/or performed in respected international professional contexts including South Africa, Asia, Europe, and Australia to critical acclaim, and has presented papers on her work at international conferences.
